Comments This is a true 5 star dive resort! We’ve been diving for many years, but have not encountered this level of diving or service. Every single person we encountered was kind, welcoming and extremely helpful.

We planned to spend a couple days in Bali after the long flight from the US but we were still met at the airport by Wakatobi staff who also assured we made it to our hotel. with no issues.

They met us again when we arrived for our flight to Wakatobi and again when we returned to Bali. This may seem like a small detail - but when you don’t speak the language, it is very meaningful and we all appreciated this.

We arrived on the Wakatobi charter flight around 1pm and were shown to our room. Our suite was beautiful- tastelfully decorated, clean and very comfortable. During our 10 day stay, I thought more than a few times…I think I can live here…

The dining room was also beautiful and from day one, every person miraculously knew your name. There was always a good variety of foods to choose from and it was all delicious. Another thing that set this experience apart from other resorts was how the staff engaged with everyone. They always asked about our day, diving and if there was anything we needed. The dining managers were all working hard to describe some of the Indonesian food and I loved it all.

Onto the diving. The boats were beautiful - really different than any we have been on. Spacious and comfortable. Everyone from the taxi boat drivers, the dive helpers and the captains were excellent. There was always tea, coffee, cold water and snacks available on board.

We had a Marine Biologist on our boat (Julia) who was great to talk with. She is employed by the resort to help keep track of the health of the reef. The resort not only sponsors this, but employs many locals in the village.

Saving the best for last - our Dive Master, Ishmail was one of the best any of us has ever had. Ishmail was truly exceptional, from the detailed drawings during the dive briefings, the diving, and throughout our stay, he was patient, kind and found things we had only hoped to see. Each and every dive was better than the last. Beautiful hard and soft corals, different species of colored fish, creatures and incredibly large nudi’s (even I could find :)

I love taking photos underwater and for sure took hundreds over our 10 day stay, but often found myself just looking at the reef and fish trying to etch as much as possible into my mind. This is one beautiful part of the world that seems to have avoided the temperature swings that have plagued the Caribbean and other areas. One reason for this are the currents that can be very unpredictable.

At the end of the day, I know this is a job for the people here - but they all take pride in whatever they are doing and sincerely want you to enjoy your stay. At the end of each dive briefing and day of diving, Ishmail would ask us all “is there anything I can do to make this better for you?”

No, Ishmail - not one thing! You are all the best.
