Comments Wakatobi Dive Resort is an incredible place to luxuriate while getting in some world class bottom time. The resort is located on an island in the middle of a national park where fishing is restricted and the reefs show that. Lots of corals, reef fish and critters. Plenty to see on every dive. Divers are put into small groups with at least 2 guides per group. Dives are made from 2 traditional hand-made boats that are absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of room with modern facilities. Nitrox is the norm, included with diving for those certified. The pace is unhurried and friendly. The house reef right out front is also full of life and available for snorkelers or for additional dives. Once set up, you never touch your gear again, it's all handled by the capable dive crew.

The resort accommodations are elegantly furnished individual bungalows right on the beach, fully air-conditioned with a lanai and sitting area. Lounges, a beach umbrella and hammock complete the front palm-lined beach area in front of the bungalows. The restaurant is central and offers breakfast, lunch and dinners with delicious meals.

The resort shares the island with a village on the other side where most of the resort workers live. Their level of service is top notch and friendly. By the end of the first day everyone knows your name. Unbelievable. The Sunset Bar is located at the end of the pier, a convenient gathering spot to have your favorite beverage and discuss all the stuff you saw during the day.

For me this was an over-the-top dive destination that always remember and cherish.
