Comments We did a 3+ week trip to Bali. We dove in the southeastern area, eastern Bali and northern Bali. We stayed at the Watergarden in SE Bali (awesome, 5 star, fantastic food and service). We were picked up daily by Aquamarine Divers (AMD) who coordinated the entire trip (minus airfare). 5 star operation. I do u/w photo, and had my own dive guide (HIGHLY recommended). My wife and son (10 yrs old, just certified) dove with their own guide. AMD was excellent with my son. He shot GoPro video and produced an excellent video. Bali diving is a mix of traditional boat dives, "wooden boats" and jukungs, and shore diving.

We then dove in the Tulamben area, stayed at the Oceanview Tulamben. Numerous issues with this hotel. I would stay at the Mimpi Tulamben if I did the trip again. A local hangout (restaurant) in Tulamben, Safety Stop, was a 15 min walk, and the food was outstanding. Huge portions. We ate like kings and queens during our entire Bali trip, avg $20 U.S. for a large meal. Bali is very inexpensive.

Finally, we dove northern Bali, stayed at the Mimpi Menjangan. Beautiful hotel. Excellent food. No other restaurants around, must eat at the hotel.

Bali offers outstanding muck/critter diving, beautiful drift diving/walls, coral gardens. A very nice mix. AMD picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel each day. Punctual. Professional. I left Bali with a beautiful portfolio of images.

June is the beginning of the dry season. We had 3 weeks of pure sunshine. A 5mm suit is recommended. AMD offers a "VIP" airport pickup service that expedites customs and immigration process, $35/person, WELL worth it. Flew coach on Korean Air. Beautiful planes. Excellent service. Long flights. Good food (for a plane).

In short, I was exceedingly impressed and surprised by how good the diving was in Bali, and AMD did an exceptional job in coordinating our hotels, diving, transportation, etc.

UW Photo Comments We dove a combo of traditional fiberglass outboards (fast boats), traditional Indonesian boats (called "wooden boats") and jukungs (canoe with outrigger--truly Indonesian diving). The jukung sites were 10 minutes away.
