Autopilot Causes Collision. On July 31, a 30-foot Grady-White fishing boat, traveling on autopilot at 25 knots/hour, ran over a 30-foot anchored dive boat positioned over a shipwreck 11 miles off the New Jersey Coast. Two divers were in the water, but a diver, who was still on board with another, was thrown into the water by the impact and injured. He suffered head and arm injuries and inhaled a substantial amount of seawater. He was airlifted to shore. Both boats took on water after the collision and used pumps to keep afloat as they were towed to shore. The New Jersey police are investigating whether the fishing boat captain was asleep at the time....
