Comments	The Solmar V group is by far the oldest company serving the Socorro Islands. Their crew is experienced and excellent. Their food and service are excellent. Their prices, especially during their specials--get on their mailing list!--are the best value for the area. They even have ridiculously small single rooms at virtually no increase in price. But the boat is very much showing its age--be aware of this shortcoming. This trip is probably the easiest and cheapest way for any US citizen to see the big stuff. Mantas are outrageous, and won't flee unless you chase them. You'll see many species of shark (7 this trip) and great schools of fish. Depending on the season, you might snorkel with whales or even run into them on dives. I saw ORCAS and a humpback before boarding the Solmar while snorkeling on a day trip from Cabo San Lucas. This is a wonderful trip which everyone capable should take. The coral and small stuff are more like Hawaii, and for the same reason, but you didn't come for macro, although when you look there is plenty. An advantage is the longer trips Solmar V offers, which give a better bang for the buck/effort. See my and others' reports on this area for fish id, etc.
