Comments Since were were visiting Puerto Vallarta on a cruise ship, the dive had to fit within the arrival/departure times of the voyage. I contacted several places in Puerto Vallarta by email to check on whether their dive trips fit the right window. Rodolfo at Silent World Divers was willing to arrange the dive schedule to fit our needs as long as we had at least two divers. We did. I have been diving for several years, but this would be the first post-certification dives for my daughter-in-law who just completed her training in Hawaii in January. I asked for a location that would be suitable for her, but interesting for me. Rodolfo suggest a site called Los Arcos and it was perfect. I was given very precise instructions where to meet and specific directions for the taxi. A short ride from the cruise ship dock ($8) we arrived at a hotel where the doorman took our bags and carried them to the read where the boat was docked. Rodolfo did an excellent pre departure briefing and we had a smooth ride for about 20 minutes. I was a bit concerned when we arrived at the site and it seemed that every snorkel cattle boat was there, and yes there were hundreds of bodies in the water, but as soon as we descended, there was on one else. Rodolpho did a very complete briefing and we submerged and followed him. He did a good job in fair visibility of pointing out both interesting fish and some small inverts. We went until we were low on air, did a full safety stop and surfaced. During the surface interval there were cold drinks and enough shade to keep out of the sun. The second dive was only a short ride away and followed the same procedure.

This ended up being a perfect situation for a newbie and interesting enough for me. I strongly recommend Rodolfo and will book a trip with him again when I go back to Puerto Vallarta.
