Comments This was Quino el Guardian’s October 10-day re-positioning cruise from northern summer diving to southern winter diving in the Sea of Cortez. Shuttle bus from Phoenix airport to Puerto Peñasco very comfortable. QeG is a well-designed dive boat. There are 4 sleeping cabins, 4 bunks each, in lower deck. Four toilets and showers are on the dive deck. Convenient to doff gear, shower, and put on dry clothes between dives. Diving is from 2 Zodiacs, 8 divers plus a DM and a Zodiac driver. All dive sites close to QeG. We did 3-4 dives per day. After each dive, swim up to Zodiac, hand up weights, BCD, and fins, then climb ladder. Crew hefted BCD+tank and weights up to dive deck between dives, and filled tanks. I tipped them generously for all that muscle work. Diving excellent on enormous rocks. No coral reefs. Lots of fish. Whale shark snorkel one morning - whale sharks are amazing! Lots of sea lions, they are fun to swim with and above water are loud and stinky. Visibility was never great. Food was slightly above okay, and deteriorated as the trip went on, but there was plenty of it. DMs Edgar and Tico were hard-working and fun. This is not an Aggressor luxury dive trip, but it is good diving in an interesting water body with a solid outfitter. Highly recommend.
