Comments [Rented a car in Cabo at the air port. Expensive with insurance 500$ for the week. But we were staying at Cabo and doing some of our diving at La Paz. 2 hour trip from Cabo .Got to dive and swim with mobala rays very cool it was the very start of the season . We would see them doing flips and dancing on the surface and then slip into the water and swim near, If they were startled they would swim beneath you and you could watch a ballet. We only saw about fifty but in peak season they say thousands, my daughter and husband are going two weeks later they’ll get to many more. The sea lion dive was awesome , we cruised by an island with a colony of males and females and some young on it. Great to see them slide into the water and play. The males take their protection role very seriously, if the boat got closer than they wanted they would bark and shake their heads. Large guys 600 lbs. nice to see them protect their families. Visibility was poor it was not a good season , November is better. They told us you need to come three times to La Paz to dive , we got the very end of sea lion season , they have their babies in June and you can’t go near them. But the mobalas come right after that and they have a season for whale sharks and whales. We were told you could see them breach from shore. Now about the dive boat . La Paz divers. Seam to be more about snorkeling than diving. There was only four on the boat two divers and two snorkelers but no place to set up and keep your gear. It was geared up and left on the floor or the seat. It would have been very crowded with the two divers that canceled. Water entry was horrible the bench seats were so deep and the rail on the boat was then and elevated so you had to gear up and climb up on the bench and get your tank over the edge with no place to hang on to. I had to be steadyed by the dive master to keep from falling backwards prematurely. The boat captain was Cris and the dive master was Crisity and very helpful and knowledgeable. Lunch was served on the surface interval and I mean served they took us to a gorgeous beach and set up a table ,we had sandwiches and ceviche and fresh fruit with cookies there was sodas and water. From La Paz to the colony was an hour and forty minute boat ride, but worth it.
In Cabo there are lots of great restaurants, but a new one is located right by the big Walmart, Freddy’s El Pata Salada a must have is the shirmp six giants I wish we could have eaten there more . The shirmp were fixed three different ways and I had the fried grouper very nice filet and a beer 46$
