Comments This is a small, very high quality resort with just a few very nice bungalows on the shore near Tulamben, about a 5 minute boat ride from the Liberty wreck. This is on the Northeast shore of Bali about 3 hours from the airport. This was a good fit for us as we did not care about night life, but we did care about excellent facilities and staff.

They have some nice small boats just off shore that you have to wade to, as no docks are permitted in this area. This was not a problem, as the staff was super helpful getting the gear and people aboard.

There is terrific muck diving right there off the resort. The sloping volcanic sand and pebbles are rich in critters. We did several boat dives, as well, and are glad we did. While the 1962 volcanic eruptions did wipe out much of the reef system in this area, there are places with good coral walls that survived. We never took a boat ride that was over 5 minutes.

I did the Liberty wreck twice. First thing in the morning is highly recommended to avoid the crowds. And there ARE crowds. By getting there at 6:15 one morning we avoided all the other people and my guide and I had the whole place to ourselves for over 30 minutes. The wreck is as good as everyone says. It's huge and diverse.

My wife and I really loved the dive staff. They really worked hard to take care of everything and the dive facility there, while small, worked really well for us. The staff is laid back, but very attentive.

The rooms at this resort are spectacular. Beautiful high ceilings, and nice Balinese furnishings. Rich landscaping. Not a cinder block in sight. Quiet air conditioning. terrific shower.

The food is served family style, and is really wonderful.
