Comments After a week diving in Bunaken National Park with Thalassa Dive and Wellbeing Resort Manado (reviewed separately), we were taken by van across North Sulawesi, on a modern divided highway no less, to Bitung. At a beach near Bitung we boarded a dive boat which took us and our gear to Lembeh Island and Thalassa Dive Resort Lembeh.

The resort is small, quiet, and very well run by manager Maria and her staff. We stayed in a relatively spacious bungalow about halfway between the restaurant and dive shop that overlooked the strait, with a covered lanai, plenty of A/C, hot water and a comfortable bed. The restaurant is open air, but bugs weren’t a problem after a quick spray of repellent on bare legs. The food was excellent. Breakfast is served at 7AM, and guests have a choice of made-to-order omelets (or scrambled eggs, or fried eggs) or crepe-like pancakes. There is a lot of fresh f ... Subscribe to get the full story.
