Comments I chose this resort because of recommendations I read in Undercurrent. I made the reservation in 2019, then the pandemic. I rescheduled the trip twice and each time they honored the quote they had originally given me, and applied my deposit. They were great to work with from beginning to end, trust-worthy, pleasant, great attitude, great service.
The trip started by picking us up at our hotel in Sorong, transferring to a boat for the 2-hr ride to Gam, near Waigeo. There we were met at the dock by the entire staff serenading us with a local song.
Our accommodation was a spacious cottage built out over the shallows. There's no AC, but there is a ceiling fan, and huge sliding doors onto our private deck overlooking the water. We were comfortable.
They do not permit the use of personal soaps and shampoos - they provide reef safe soaps, as the shower water dumps directly into the sea.
Meals were served buffet style in a large open-air pavilion, which doubled as a social gathering spot.
The dive sites accessible from the resort are varied and of course spectacular - it is after all, Raja Ampat. Most dive sites were 10 - 20 minutes away, but they also included more distant sites on all-day trips.
They have an on-site conservationist, who aside from tracking pelagic sightings, conducts reef restoration dives, where I attached pieces of broken coral to a metal frame. I saw similar restoration efforts at other dive sites we visited.
They also offered a post-dive tour around the island, and a trek into the forest to see a rare bird of paradise.
Overall they are a quality operation, with really nice people. I would happily go back.
