Comments First Impressions
Airport pickup and transport was seamless. From the time we were picked up at the airport, a member of the Siladen staff accompanied us. From the beginning of our stay all the staff addressed by our first names. I have no idea how they managed to do that but is indicative of the attention to detail that makes Siladen great. Riri, the operations manager, met us when the boat arrived and visited us frequently to make certain everything was as it should be.
Room
We chose a villa suite just a few meters from the ocean. For us, as only one of us dives, this room choice was the right one, giving the non-diver plenty to do right at the room. The room was spotless, had an outdoor shower with plenty of hot water, air conditioning worked all the time, and never lost power. Tap water in Indonesia isn’t potable but each room had a water cooler with purified water which again, is another small item that shows the care for the guests Sildan shows. They prepped the villa for sleeping by closing all the drapes, turning down the bed and lowering the mosquito nets. Mosquitos and other bitty things weren’t a problem at all.
Dining
Great variety of tasty food, usually a buffet line but sometimes they served ala carte. Food was balanced between Asian and western leaning to outstanding Italian and was plentiful
Dive operation:
For the first few days, it was me and my dive guide Ferry, later we picked up two more divers but that was as big as the group got. They set up your gear and clean and dry it every day. I never trust anyone and always checked my gear before diving and never found an error. One day my dive guide saw me move where I clipped my SPG and for the rest of the dives, that was where it was every morning.
Dives:
They always checked the current and visibility and if either was not optimum, they moved the dive boat. My boat didn’t have a dedicated camera area, but the dive shop did. After a quick briefing, a backroll into the most beautiful waters I’ve ever seen. The number of small to medium sized fish was breath taking. I saw more fish and healthy coral in the first five minutes of the first dive than I saw on an entire recent trip to Honduras. My dive guide Ferry was fantastic pointing out the small critters from worms, nudibranchs, sea horses, small crabs hiding in anemones, shrimp and so much more. I saw three sharks during the stay, so don’t count on seeing a shark. What you can count on is seeing greenback and hawksbill turtles, lots and lots of turtles. One dive I stopped counting at well over thirty. Getting back in the boat was easy, I handed up my gear and climbed in without a problem. When you get out, you are welcomed with a hot, scented face towel, cookies and fruit. There was water, tea and coffee on board. Trying to reduce plastics, each diver had a cup with the diver’s name that got washed every night. The managers of the dive operation Leo, Lea and Teddy were super in making sure I felt like this was my tenth visit, not my first.

Spa
My non-diving wife made full use of the spa enjoying several awesome massages from Ita. My wife left Siladen very relaxed and happy.
Overall, a superb resort with a top-notch dive operation. Despite the long travel distance from the USA, Siladen is so good that my non-diving wife is already talking about a return trip.
