Comments Oceanic is a new live-aboard stated operation from this year. We are anxious about education of crew, however they have a lot of experience in their sister boat Ondina. This one way trip took us from Labuahanbajo to Maumere, to dive sites around several islands Komodo, Rinca, Palu and Kodia in Flores.
The diving was great especially some well- known dive sites such as Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock in Komodo. There were schools of fish: giant and blue fin trevally, rainbow runner, anthias, butterflyfish, yellow ribbon sweetlips, two-striped sweetlips yellow surgeon fish, several humpback wrasses, and, a few sharks and mantas.
Coral is very healthy. We did 1 manta dive, but no manta at Makasser Reef. Instead of manta reef, we could encounter 2 mantas in famous site Shot Gun. Due to strong currents, mantas could not go forward in the channel. So we stay with manta as long as we could manage the strong current. The dive guide are always behind the group. When your reef hook loosened, the guide caught us. One dive guide for 3 or 4 divers. We booked the Oceanic next year accordingly.
