Comments Would recommend the FM7 hotel for Jakarta layovers. Boat & tender crew were excellent. Weather was what was expected for time of year (read rainy and cloudy). Dive plan was good and takes into account the current (a real plus for us older people). Dive sites chosen changed due to the weather. Only down side was the dive guides (not all of them) handling the reef and allowing the customers to do the same, particularly the photographers.

Flights went well with Garuda now flying direct from Jakarta to Surong and back. You still need to leave plenty of time to change terminals in Jakarta, you have to claim your luggage from the domestic flights and recheck in for the international portion. Eva air had good service (premium economy recommended) over the Pacific but be aware they are weighing check in bags. We mentioned the Ni-Cad batteries in both and they left us alone.

Closest Airport Tual to join and Surong to leave Getting There Overnight at FM7 Hotel in Jakarta on way in. Good airport pickup and ideal for airport overnight. Then Garuda to Ambon and then on to Tual. Sarong direct to Jakarta on return. Over the Pacific on Eva "premium economy" which was good but be aware that the airlines are starting to weigh carry on bags.
