Comments I just spent a week at the Bastianos Bunaken Dive Resort. Bunaken is known for it’s wall dives. The walls would begin in a few feet of water and drop straight down to 200 or 300 feet. The shallows were covered in healthy hard corals. However, there was only one dive where we were wowed by the marine life. We had thousands of pyramid butterflyfish, large schools of longjaw mackerel, although they never opened their jaws for me, a couple of dogtooth tuna, and a large bumphead parrotfish. The other dives produced a few green and hawksbill turtles, and the usual colorful fishes such as regal angelfish and three varieties of longnose butterflyfish.
We had a tip from a friend that there were some interesting gobies to be found in the boat basin of the resort, so my friends and I requested to dive there.
