Comments This was a great small critter/macro photography dive site. Was recommended to us by one of the owners of the operation, and she was spot on. Not a difficult dive, but not recommended for most beginners as it is so macro-intensive. We were impressed enough to do our second dive at the same site as the first.

Dive guide was not real interactive under water, although he found several critters for us. He was, however, extremely helpful in assisting us on entry and exit--despite 500-600 dives, this was probably only our 3d or 4th shore dive in many years, so we were a bit ungainly on entry!

They picked us up at our homestay, transported us to the shop, and then to and from the dive site.

The dive shop is well stocked and caters to divers of all experience levels. The owner, Marion, is French, fluent in English, and extremely enthusiastic about fish and creature identification. Post dive, we spent a lot of time going over pictures with her. If, as planned, we come back to Amed, we would dive with them again.

As is true throughout Indonesia (Raja Ampat, Komodo N.P., and here) water temp meant that one of us was quite comfy in T-shirt and shorts, and the other in 3mm full wetsuit, but without hood.

I'll be uploading a couple of photos soon (A hairy file fish and a pom-pom or boxing crab). Unfortunately, the GoPro video of a male ornate ghost pipefish didn't turn out as well as we hoped. Thus, these two will have to suffice.

Arrgghh. Leafy Filefish, not "hairy file fish." I've got it right on the photo caption though!
