Comments This is my fourth trip to Bali with Aqua Marine- this time at my overall favorite location- Tulamben . In my opinion Aqua Marine is a truly customer oriented professional operation. They have never failed me and always met my dive requests. On trip such as these, I generally go it alone or with one other person and hire a guide (provided by Aqua Marine), not only to spot creatures but act as a dive buddy, since otherwise I would I would end up diving solo which my wife generally is apprehensive about. The guide also has the gear ready to go on notice so diving is truly effortless. On this latest trip I was able to get many good shots of cleaner shrimp with fish, mantis shrimp with eggs, Coleman shrimp on sea urchins and a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a bumphead parrotfish feeding during daylight hours (close up wide angle shots less than 1 ft away). Over the nine diving day trip, I made 27 dives - mostly shore dives. I could have easily made more but at 60 + years, I have slowed a bit so I elected to have a massage instead of that fourth dive daily. Tulamben definietly has more divers than I have seen on previous trips but with my arrangement, I could easily work around it and get some good photos. I also dove a new spot in Tulamben area - Batu Kelbit which had some great photo subjects not found in the other areas. As mentioned earlier I stayed at the Paradise, the orinal accommodation at Tulamben. It's certainly not a 5 Star or fancy, but it is more than adequate for my needs and the price is more than reasonable.

UW Photo Comments The accomidations (Paradise) we stayed in were adequate however be sure to bring power converters. I just picked up a large plastic storage container and kept fresh water everyday from the tub shower. The bathroom itself is constructed so the floor can rinsed down from the shower so the it worked great for keeping salt buildup to a minimum for the underwater camera housings.
