Comments Bali is a big island with dive sites too far apart to be easily reached staying in one place. We have taken "Dive Safari" trips with Aquamarine twice and been very happy with their service. We spent 1-3 nights at a variety of hotels. Each morning we were picked up and brought to the dive site for the day. Our gear was placed in crates and kept by Aquamarine. Breakfasts were included at the hotels and box lunches or lunch at the hotel were supplied each diving day. Dinner was on our own.

Diving was primarily off the beach, but for those of us getting older and klutzier, the dive guides helped us put on and take off gear in waist deep water and carry cameras to and from the shore. The sites near Padangbai were reached by day boats. The marine life consisted of a large variety of the small critters seen in the muck at many Indonesian sites, some sharks and mid sized fish, lots of mantas at Manta Point. Our trip in May was a bit early for the Mola Mola, though some had been reported in the area. The water temperature was in the low 80's for much of the trip, but upwellings in the Padangbai area meant sudden drops to 71. In theory, dives were limited to an hour, but the limit was not enforced. Nitrox was available on all but a couple of dives in the Padangbai area where they worried that divers might go too deep.

Aquamarine provided great service. Their trips can be customized based on length of stay and preference for dive sites and hotels. And the dive sites in Bali, while not as famous as other parts of Indonesia had enough going on to keep things interesting.

UW Photo Comments Beach sites had areas where cameras could be set up. Boats had covered seating areas where equipment could be worked on if needed. Guides would help getting cameras through the surf.
