Comments The Menjangan – Bali Indonesia
Our lodging was at The Menjangan in West Bali National Park. It is a 3-to-5-hour drive from Denpasar International Airport. This is a very nice resort that is spread out over the park. The main structure is a five-level open-air building. The first level has a lobby and bar. The second is the restaurant where breakfast and lunch are served. The third level has a pool table. The fourth and fifth are lounging areas with great views of the park. The Pantai restaurant is over the water at the beach and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a bar. The Monsoon lodges are in yet another area 500 meters from the main structure. There are several beach villas and a house located at the beach near the Pantai restaurant. It was great to sit and be served a good meal instead of another buffet.
Activities include horseback riding, scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, trekking, biking and bird watching. We saw monkeys, monitor lizards, deer, a giant squirrel and many types of birds. They also have a spa. To get around this resort you can walk or ride the double-decker vans. From our room it’s 3.5 km to the Pantai restaurant so we rode the vans a lot. A swimming pool is at the Monsoon lodges. The lodges are all poolside, and the rooms are nice with a king bed, couch, loveseat, coffee table, minibar, shower, toilet, sink, and closet. A fruit plate and cookies are on the table when you arrive, and cookies are replenished daily.
Our travel agent, Lisa at www.weaverdivetravel.com arranged this 30 day three location trip (Borneo, Raja Ampat, Bali) for us and she did a fantastic job. Everything worked like clockwork. The dive operation she chose was Abyss World Dive, www.abyssoceanworld.com, and it was a great operation. They had the best boat in the area and all new aqua lung rental gear. They were very safe and provided great service. They arrived at the jetty at 9 AM sharp every day and took great care of my dive equipment overnight. The dive briefings were good. A bucket was provided for cameras, and no one had a large setup. Entry was by back roll and a round rung ladder was used to get back on the boat after handing up your gear. Some divers climbed up with gear on. At the surface interval they provided a box lunch, coffee, and tea on an island at a home stay resort. Most of the dives were wall dives or sloping walls with light current. We saw tons of reef fish, turtles, clams, moray eels, garden eels, nudi branch's, octopus, blacktip sharks, schools of giant trevally and bat fish. The visibility was 50 to 70 feet. I thought the diving and accommodations here were great.
