Comments This was our 1st trip to Bali so we did a lot of research to find a good, reputable, PADI shop. Abyss Adventures was the best value! We booked a 10 day Dive Safari package with them that included all our diving, transportation, accomodations and 2 meals a day on dive days. Plus they gave us free Nitrox with our package! They are one of only 5 shops in Bali that even have Nitrox. They cater to experienced divers (100+ dives), divemasters, instructors, tec divers & underwater photographers. It was so nice to not have to dive with newly certified or once-a-year-vacation-divers! (Thier sister company, Bali Scuba, caters to those.) We were very pleased with thier high level of service! On about half of our dives we had our dive guide to ourselves. On the other half we dove with only one or two others, often photographers. Our dive guide, Menyun, was great at finding all the critters we wanted to see, from Pygmy Seahorses to Ghost Pipefish to exotic Nudibranchs & Frogfish & Harlequin Shrimp & Flashlight fish & even an out-of-season Mola Mola! The Dive Safari took us to different dive sites around the island (with accomodations along the way) and was an excellent overview of the island & it's diving! We did everything from muck diving to high adrenaline drift diving. Our itinerary covered Nusa Penida, Padang Bai, Tulamben, Menjangan, & Gilimanuk (Secret Bay). We were amazed at the diversity of all the marine life! We live & dive often in Guam & as we dove in Bali we saw many of the same fish, but larger & much more numberous. Plus there were tons of new ones we'd never seen. It seems everything there grows bigger & better! Thankfully Menyun brought all his marine life ID books along! We opted for med.-low budget accomodations and they were very adequate & comfortable. (Mushroom Beach Bungalows,Lembongan Island; Paradise Palm Beach Bungalows, Tulamben) Some were even very high quality hotels - a very nice surprise indeed! (Sindhu Mertha Guest House, Sanur; Aneka Bagus Resort & Spa, Pemuteran; Sri Ratih Cottages, Ubud area) Overall, we were very pleased with our Dive Safar with Abyss Adventures and are happy to highly recommend them to any other experienced divers! We would also highly recommend their sister company, Bali Scuba, to all other divers as they share the same fascilities and many of the same staff, thus offer the same high quality service. We can't wait to go back ourselves!
