Comments I first dived BLR in 2010 and did 4 shark dives with Aquatrek at Bistro dive site. Over the years I have done 4 more dives at Bistro and in 2022, did a dive with Coastal Divers at their Colisseum dive site. On all 9 of these dives there were bull sharks and up to 6 other shark species, but no tigers. This trip to BLR was to see tigers at their Cathedral dive site. This was very successful. They seem to have 2 resident tiger sharks, Topless, a pregnant female with an almost non-existent dorsal fin, and Sylvester, a larger male with a jaw deformity. The bulls and other sharks are bit players. I weas signed up for an additional shark feed dive on the final day but that was cancelled due to less than 6 divers signing up. The reefs at Beqa are very nice but pale in comparison to other magnificent Fiji reefs. The dives are generally on the fringing Beqa Lagoon reef which sees enough ocean action to perhaps limit the size of the corals. While there were plenty of small reef fish and some big sharks, medium size fish seemed missing. On a snorkel from shore, my wife band I encountered a 4' barracuda that shadowed us for 20 minutes even into very shallow water that was a bit spooky. Hopefully, Topless and Sylvester will stay around for a long time to excite future BLR customers.
