The Philippines has been in the news recently for enduring a 6.9 magnitude earthquake immediately after two severe typhoons.

The traveling diver should be aware of the prevailing seasonal wind of the south-west monsoon that is inclined to produce typhoons from June to October, affecting the areas that include Luzon, Cebu, the Visayas, and possibly including Puerto Galera.

The northeast seasonal wind (dry monsoon) dominates from November to April, bringing with it calm seas and clear skies, making this the best time to visit areas such as Palawan (Puerto Princesa), Boracay, and Tubbataha Reef.
