Comments	I’ll admit I was skeptical about how good the diving would be in the Gulf of Mexico out of Freeport, TX— near Houston — on the M/V Fling, a 48-hour boat trip. Could the Flower Garden Banks and Stetson Banks really be as nice as the website made them seem, to be worth 2 days in a cramped boat? I’m happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised! Of the 27 divers on this 4th of July weekend trip, I was the only one who was not “local”, that is, from TX, OK, or AR. I flew down to IAH on a Friday afternoon and back home on a Monday morning. Some divers were making their 4th dives ever, 1 was making his first saltwater dive, others were well-seasoned with all sorts of certs. 8 divers arrived as singles, and were given the chance to buddy up not long after boarding; no appare ...
