Comments I want to relay my experience diving the PNW in the hopes it will aid others that might be interested in following a similar trek. My perspective is that of a newb and only making a limited number of dives in the PNW. Still, I think others might find it helpful. This is the first of three reviews covering my diving experience in the PNW and focuses on Washington at Hoodsport in the Sund Rock preserve. Two additional reviews will cover diving in Campbell River British Columbia and the trials, tribulations, and ultimate failure to dive Port Hardy/Gods Pocket on north Vancouver Island.

My diving experience has mostly been in warm water destinations. However, over the years I have logged about 100 cold water dives including about 40 in a dry suit. These cold-water dives have tended to be inland destinations around Colorado and popular California locations like Monterey and the Channel Islands. My interest has been piqued by stories about cold water diving in the Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes shipwrecks, and Arctic/Antarctic sites while learning new skills and techniques for immersing myself in these locales. I can road trip to the PNW, so I did (as part of a longer trip with my wife).
