Comments We tried Key Largo because we had yet to travel to a US dive destination, and we liked the advantages of a domestic flight and no passport requirement or Customs clearance. We took some good advice and flew from DFW into Ft Lauderdale instead of Miami, and the smaller airport was a 2-hour drive via rental car versus 90 minutes from Miami.

We enjoyed a beachfront deluxe suite at $2200 for 9 nights with small kitchenette, seating area, large screened in porch and another small outdoor seating area. We found the staff extremely friendly and hospitable, and conveniently just 1.6 miles from the dock at Conch Republic Divers. Warm muffins were delivered to our room every morning, and if we had an early dive, the muffins were waiting for us in the office.
