Comments We arrived in the aftermath of the tragic accident which befell Robert Sachs and the three passengers in the plane which crashed. Kathy (Robert's wife/partner) runs Dive Bequia so were unsure whether we'd be able to dive. And it wouldn't have mattered, sometimes events overtake plans and that would have been fine.

As it was, Kathy reopened the shop after a short hiatus with Chelle running things with Max, Nicky, Tristran, Cadel and Cody all pitching in. They were all a credit to her. Polite, friedly and helpful, they did a great job in difficult circumstances.

We did 18 dives each over the time were on Bequia. I would describe the diving as interesting. The 'starter' dives and where the boat went when things got too rough elsewhere are once again full of juveniles and small gobies thanks to the efforts by Max and others of clearing out the invasive lionfish. We regularly found octopi and arrow crabs and various other small critters when on the grass. In deeper water we regularly saw very impressive sponges, lots of morays and a good variety of tropical fish. There are very few 'table sized' fish here and we only say one trevally in the entire time. Barracuda were thin on the ground too. That said, the diving taken in its entirety always threw up something notable. We saw squid, several octopi hunting and flashing different colours, puffers, bannerfish, two very large seahorses, scrawled file fish, jawfish. The wrecks are hit and miss, catch them right and they're festooned with small snappers and grunts. Of note too is some of the topography we encountered. One dive site in particular called Cathedral was sensational with waving tree like corals (?) abutting a very lovely coral slope. One other note, it blew a steady 15/20 kts when we were there which meant that access to some of the sites was limited. We enjoyed our time greatly and would return.
