Comments Let me qualify my report. I'm writing about just the big island of Saint Vincent. I'm retired and came to Saint Vincent to look for critters in 2003. I have taken an extended vacation here and I do a lot of critter diving. Saint Vincent was mentioned in Diver Magazine as the number 1 spot in the Caribbean and number 10 in the world for critters. Diving conditions vary by the season. Rainy season, there is a lot of rain. Dry season, not so much. Diving conditions also vary by the season. Water temp in the summer months is usually 83-84 degrees. In the winter months it usually drops down to 78-82. All diving is done from moorings. Generally there is no current but occasionally one comes through. Do you need a wetsuit? That depends on you. I have seen people in 7mil and others in skins. I personally use just a vest all year round. Water vis is dependent on the rainfall. Very heavy rains bring a lot of runoff from the island and vis drops down to 20', sometime less. Normally the vis is 100' or better. For large fish, sharks, turtles, mantas, and whales you have to go one of the dive shops in the Grenadines. Dive Saint Vincent is the oldest shop in the area. It's not a live aboard. All that is offered for cameras on board is a fresh water rinse tank. The shop is small and doesn't offer space for cleaning or repairs. A certifying instructor is not available but arrangements can be made to get you certified. Resort Courses and Refresher courses are available. For further information go to the shop website at DiveStVincent.com or give Jackie a call at 784-457-4714. Email them at bill2s@divestvincent.com. Feel free to Email me at Masterdiver50@gmail.com. If you are interested about the islands and are using Youtube, do a search for St Vincent and the Grenadines and there are numerous film clips about the islands.
