Comments We had the privilege of diving with SXM-Divers based in Simpson Bay. Dan Norwood runs a top notch dive operation. He owns a 28’ RIB w/ twin 150 HP outboards and takes out 6 passengers max. They have 2 guides, so can split the group down further still into smaller groups.

After 48 years of diving this was shockingly one of my most favorite dive trips: Because of Dan and his crew – they were thoroughly safety conscious and fun loving. Personalities are so important in a small 6-pax operation like this and Dan’s crew all have great attitudes that keep everyone happy.

The diving was typical Caribbean; warm and clear with great fish life. Coral coverage was some scattered sea whips, sea fans, encrusting hard corals and small barrel sponges.
Marine life seen on every dive included multiple caribbean reef sharks, schooling barracuda, rays, including an eagle ray, wrasse cleaning stations and a couple of turtles.
They typically split a two-tank trip into a wreck and reef with a 60-minute surface interval tucked into a cove near Fort Amsterdam. Most diving is done in and around their MPA, just 10 ~ 15 minutes southeast of Simpson Bay. Dives did not have any set time limits, and most lasted close to an hour.
We would highly recommend seeking out Dan with SXM-Divers.
