Comments Our last dive trip to St. Lucia was in 2019. We usually return every two years, but this time it took 4 years due to covid. The accommodations are still great, although our beach level room was musty due to a leak under the sink; we were eventually moved. The chef is different since we were there last. Everyone in the group raved about the food, except me--it was way too spicy for me; next time I'm talking to the chef right off the bat. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner were still included in our package; the buffet breakfast was awesome. The group we were with included buffet lunches which were also great.

Scuba St. Lucia has a new, larger boat which was fantastic. We were split into 3 8-person groups. I was a bit miffed because one group always was the first one in and the last one out, getting at least 60 minutes each dive, while my group mostly finished at the required 45-50 minutes. But I felt revenged when we ended up at Anse Couchon (Bay of Pigs) one dive and our group saw an eagle ray and 30+ squid in the shallows. Even our guide didn't want to stop! One day there was a super pod of 3 types of dolphins between dives that were feeding.

The corals are in trouble just like the rest of the Caribbean, but the soft corals were healthy. What struck me the most was the feeling that I was diving in an aquarium, with hundreds of small to medium sized tropicals everywhere. The included night shore dives are always good, with plenty of lobsters, crabs, and eels, and I always enjoy the Vichy B. and Lesleen M. wrecks as a change of pace.

Anse Chastanet is just an oasis of calm and tranquility with pleasant Caribbean diving that's easy to get to. We're already planning our return in 2024.
