Comments My husband and I just came back from our 8th trip to Anse Chastanet, lasting two weeks, this time with Tina from divetrip.com. The resort is still very nice, with mostly non-AC rooms extending up the hillside, with beautiful views of the Pitons, the ocean, or both. We did 2-3 dives each day, including 2 shore dusk/night dives over two weeks. The water temperature was 84-86 degrees; much of the coral was bleached or dead from SCTLD. Starting in 2022, the sponge orange band began affecting the barrel sponges; eventually they turn white and crumble to the bottom. Not every dive site was affected by that; the sponges are still mostly healthy and magnificent. The small/medium fish life has declined slightly but it's still like diving in an aquarium. There's never been much big stuff, although we saw a super pod of dolphins our last trip, and they run whale tours during whale season.

We had a lot of rain while we were there, which affected the visibility somewhat. We also had a supermoon, which caused some wild currents and high tides. One dive was aborted 2/3 into the dive because the current was pulling us out and down.

We saw a few turtles, one eagle ray, a huge barracuda getting his teeth cleaned, an enormous green moray, and many spotted morays. There were tons of arrow crabs and barber pole shrimp. We also saw quite a few crabs, many hanging out in barrel sponges.

Food is very good, tending toward spicy; they have several different restaurants; the Indian restaurant is very popular. Unfortunately, I have food sensitivities so my eating was more restricted. The breakfast buffet was great with cereals, yogurts, fruit and toast/pastries; menu ordering was also available. Lunches were also from a menu with many choices. My downfall was that it was 2 or 3 by the time lunch finished and I was too full to eat much supper that started at 6:30 and took up to 2 hours from start to finish. Plus delicious cookies or pastries between dives.

Our group was on their newest boat, easy to board and easy to climb the ladder that extended further into the water than normal with steps closer together. They have no problem if you need to hand up your tank from the water. The dive staff (and the staff everywhere) was friendly and accommodating.

Other activities include paddle boarding, sailing, mountain biking, hiking, rum tasting, chocolate tasting, massage, yoga and various tours off the premises; many activities are complimentary. There is musical entertainment each night.

Our first trip to St. Lucia was in 2007; our 9th will be in June of 2026. The overall ambience keeps enticing us back.
