Comments QUO VADIS REVIEW

In mid-September, I returned to Quo Vadis Resort (QVR) near Moalboal, Cebu for the 2nd time. I had previously visited in 2019. I arrived in the middle of a typhoon that kept all divers out of the water for 2 days. Of the 10 dives that I did, 2 were shore dives at a very muddy. crowded site that was overrun with snorkelers. The other dives were boat dives with QVR. With all the rain and wind, the visibility was quite limited.

The dive operation with QVR is well run with schedules posted and the dive crew handling all dive gear to and from the dive boat. Going to and from the dive boat can be a bit challenging especially in rough water. One must descend some stairs then wade/swim thru the surf zone to the boat. The sea bottom out to the dive boat is rocky making the footing a bit tricky.

I dived with a guide with whom I had previously dived who was very helpful and an excellent critter finder. We primarily dive the sardines and Pescador Island. The other members of the dive team were all very friendly and helpful.

The Resort itself is in need of of some TLC. The rooms are dark and in need of some updating.
The restaurant was quite a disappointment from my prior visit. Its menu was quite limited and the food very ordinary. I ate elsewhere most of the time during my stay.

Also be aware that the transfer from Cebu airport to QVR usually takes 3 1/2 — 4 hours. Be sure to take this into account when planning your travel.

The marine life in the waters of Moalboal is quite varied with the huge sardine run to the macro life off of Pescador Island. We encountered several species of nudibranchs, shrimp, crab, frogfish, pipefish and other critters.

I enjoyed my revisit in spite of the poor weather primarily due to the good company of the dive crew.
