Comments This was a photo workshop trip with Bluewater Travel out of Los Angeles. The destination is really outstanding for photography - the resort set-up and the diving was great for all the things that are relatively easy to shoot - nudibranchs, frogfish, eels, an amazing variety of crabs, etc. The dive guides are great at finding things - it's what they do. Dives varied from purely muck - and a large variety of those - to some coral bommies and some coral reefs (which were a longer boat ride away and the guides were a bit reluctant to go out there.)

Not many medium sized or big fish (I think the locals have eaten them all...) but tons of other stuff.

The one argument I had with the dive op was about environmental sensitivity. They ask how much you want the guide to do in terms of moving things, digging things out of holes, etc. I said "none" and was told I would miss things (so be it.) So I didn't really appreciate that aspect.

The night diving was spectacular. Day dives varied - but there were many really interesting sites.

Lodging was nice - the resort is built up a hillside (as are all the local resorts), so there were stairs (but a great view from the rooms!) The dining/common area was really pleasant, though the wifi didn't work very well. The food was absolutely wonderful - their chef was really exceptional.

I'll return to Anilao.
