Comments This was my second trip to Crystal Blue in 2 years (and my buddy and I have already booked at trip for 2025). My buddy and I both enjoy muck diving and Anilao ranks up there with Lembeh and Ambon as a great place to enjoy muck.

We both enjoy Crystal Blue as Mike Bartick has designed the resort for photographers, plus the food is good (not gourmet, but good) and the staff is friendly and helpful. The camera room is one of the best I have ever encountered. The resort is on the side of a hill with the rooms at the top, followed by the office, the classroom and dining room, the camera room, the gear-up area, and then the boats. The boats are typical of the Philippines with outriggers. The boats are covered and are staffed by a boat driver and 2 assistants. We were there between groups this year so there were 3 divers on our boat with 2 dive masters who were great at finding things for us to photograph. We typically ate breakfast, went out for 2 morning dives, came back for lunch, and then went out for 2 afternoon dives. One day we had a late afternoon dive followed by a night dive down the coast at “The Pier” which had a variety of octopi, a bobbit worm, a couple of Ambon scorpionfish, and a variety of other interesting stuff. The day dives were filled with sea horses, mantis shrimp, tons of nudis, and a variety of frogfish and morays. There was always something to shoot. Crystal Blue has quickly become one of my favorite places to dive. Note that the shore is rocky so bring hard soled booties to make your feet happy.
