Comments Flights: AA/Cathay Pacific were great. Cebu Pacific is a low budget operation. Only a 1 hour flight from Manilla to the resort, but basically a "knee to chest" seat. 30 minute van ride from airport to resort. Would fly Philippine Air next time.

Layover: Stayed at the Marriott in Manilla both coming and going. Very nice. 5 Star. Safe. Exceptional food and service.

Atmosphere Resort and Spa:

Rooms: 5 stars. Very comfortable. Excellent Wi-Fi. TV. AC. Good housekeeping. Immaculate grounds. NO TRASH anywhere on the beach. Massages great. Wife did yoga, said it was "ok". Beautiful pools. Very attentive staff. Stayed in the Garden Apt: 3 people. 2 adults in separate bedroom, child in a rollaway bed. Worked fine.

Dauin Coast: Boat and some shore dives. Mixed bag. Not as many interesting critters as I expected. Numerous juvenile frog fish. Lots of crinoid shrimp. One wonderpus. Topography ranged from sandy bottom to reefs. Viz was fine for macro. Mostly no current. Excellent dive guides. Camera room with individual stalls. NOT climate controlled FYI. Good work space, though. 110/220 charging. Compressed air to dry rigs.

Apo Island: 5 stars! Phenomenal coral. Lots of sleeping turtles, sea snakes. Schooling jacks--viz varied. Would recommend doing multiple dives here. 30 min crossing to the island. 2 tank dives. Wide angle!!

House reef diving and snorkeling is actually quite good. Have a non-diver or a child? Great opportunity to see the world underwater with a snorkel.

Dive staff very accommodating. You could do anything you wanted...for a price. Night dives? No problem. Just be sure to inquire about costs for additional add-on services.

Food: 5 star. Lots of selections.
Food Service: 1 star. Sometimes it took 1 hour to get our food. Dinner was worst. Breakfast was quite a bit faster. Lunch service times mediocre. Despite numerous complaints from multiple guests, it didn't get any better in the 2 weeks we were there. YMMV. Be aware.

For 3 divers--room, board, diving, it ran about $1000 day ($300+/diver). Mostly 3 dive days.

Misc: there is an optional whale shark snorkel which several people in our group did. Most seemed to like it.

I wouldn't dissuade anyone from going, especially if there are non-divers and kids along--a GREAT resort for them. Very kid friendly. Would I go again? Yes, eventually, but there are other places I'd like to explore first.
