Comments Atmosphere Resort offers some of the best diving I've ever experienced, anywhere, and the resort is the best I've ever experienced.
The diving all happens either in front of the resort or is about a 15 minute boat ride from the resort. It's muck diving (silty bottom, not much coral). This type of seascape attracts multitudes of sensational critters, most of which I had not seen anywhere, let alone in such concentration in one place. Just to name a few, there were many types of frogfish (Hairy, Freckled, etc.), seahorses, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Robust Pipefish, cuttlefish (including Flamboyant!), snakes, nudibranchs, shrimp, squid, octopus (Wonderpus & Blue Ring), Leaf Scorpionfish, Donald Duck Shrimp, and many more. I have never seen so much unusual macro life anywhere-so many varieties, and only in four days!! I couldn't possibly list all of them here.

The dive guides were very knowlegeable, and there was even a resident biologist, Daniel, who is a dive guide, and has a passion for all marine life and happily offered up his wealth of knowledge about the critters of Dumaguete.

The muck diving at Atmosphere is so extraordinary that I didn't opt to go on any of the excursions they offered, but Atmosphere offers a whale shark snorkel and half day trips to Apo Island for coral reef diving, both of which were greatly enjoyed by my dive buddy.

My experience at the resort was outstanding in every way. My room was spacious, quiet, and beautifully appointed, with an outdoor shower and comfortable bed. The surrounding gardens are beautifully landscaped and fragrant, and the main pool is so heavenly that I forgot about the lack of a stunning beach. The food was the best I've ever had on a dive trip, and definitely worthy of being called fine dining, whether it was breakfast or any other meal. The menu is creative and filled with a wide variety of beautiful meats, pastas and seafood, plus plenty of vegetables and delicious vegetarian cuisine. It rivaled many of the fine restaurants I've experienced at home. I don't think I ordered anything there that wasn't delicious!

Every single employee at Atmosphere was exemplary- always polite, smiling, and happy to be of help. They were the icing on the cake at this fabulous resort, and their happy, helpful vibe significantly elevated my experience there.

Enforced diving restrictions Nothing unusual. I think our dives were 60 min. I wouldn't recommend muck diving for a beginner or anyone who can't control their buoyancy well, as you'll spend a lot of time close to a silty bottom and mustn't stir it up with your fins, since that causes the water to immediately get cloudy.
