Comments It is hard to find the words to describe what a first class diving operation, Atlantis Dive Resort- Dauin provides. The Manila airport is a hot mess and we truly appreciated Jayr and then Gary meeting and guiding us through the process, providing transportation to and from the hotel when our plane came in too late from another resort and we had to spend the night in Manila and then catch a morning flight to Dumaguete.

For us almost everything at the resort is first class - the people, service, diving, dive shop (it was better stocked with dive gear and supplies than most dive shops we visit in the USA), camera room, and restaurant. The dive staff are excellent! We have to give a shout out to Junar, Dek, Wing, Marco, and Genie for the fine job they did of taking care of us and our gear; finding all the neat critters, and paying attention to what we wanted to see and do.

We were surprised that rental gear is a little worn and they only have 3 mm shorties for rent. And, at first getting on and off the boats seems a little challenging, but the dive staff made it seem easy and it was a treat to be able to shuck our BDC and tanks in the water and just walk up the ladder.

The service and food at the restaurant was excellent. The servings were adequate but not generous but they always offered at least two options for soup, main course, and a great desert - we never left hungry. Ed the manager and the wait staff always gave us a big smile and warm welcome as we arrived.

The one day whale shark snorkeling trip is a bit of a zoo. They put you in narrow outrigger boat and paddle you to the whale sharks. Another guy leads the whale shark to you by throwing out small bits of shrimp and then guides the whale share around your group for about 40 minutes. That said, it was still a very interesting experience and they really are gentle giants. Unfortunately, I can't say that about the snorkelers that I shared the experience with.

Everything about the diving was a treat - so many new species both big and small. They turned us into muck divers and we just couldn't get enough of APO Island diving. We haven’t been everywhere or done everything but Atlantis is now our definition of what world class diving should be like. We got a quick tour of the Atlantis Azores Liveaboard and we are giving serious consideration to returning for another week of diving at Atlantis followed by a week on the boat...
