Comments [This was a combination trip in that we had a total of 4 nights in the Atlantis Dumaguete resort and 10 nights on the Atlantis Azores liveaboard.
This is only our 4th liveaboard but the cabin was comparable to most that we have had. It did not have a porthole so is dim, but we didn’t spend much time there except to sleep. There was ample room in other areas of the boat to sit and read or talk. Dining and sitting area adequately air conditioned. The accommodations at the resort were very nice with plenty of room and counter space.
The food on the boat and at the resort was excellent with many choices and large portions available. You will not go hungry. 3 meals included at resort. Boat starts with continental breakfast before first dive (fruit, yogurt, toast, peanut butter, jam, etc. ) with a coffee/latte machine and hot tea always available. Full breakfast after first dive with more fruit and lots of eggs, pancakes or waffles, bacon, ham, Asian dishes. You ask for it and they will make it for you if they have it. Lunch after second or third dive with at least 5 different entrees. Snacks after afternoon dive. Dinner is your choice of usually 3 different entrees with soup or salad, sides and dessert. If there is a night dive it is usually before dinner and you have hot chocolate with Bailey’s waiting after you rinse off under the nice warm showers on the dive deck.
The dive deck is set up well to keep divers from having to be crowded. The boat has a maximum 16 divers (we had 14) and it went smoothly. The crew sets your gear back up between dives and has them in one of the 2 hard hulled inflatable boats to take you to the dive. Back roll in the boat or have them hand BC/tank to you in the water. They haul your BC up at end and you board by ladder over side.
Rides to site usually under 3-4 minutes.
The most outstanding thing about the resort and the boat are the incredible Phillipine people that work there. They are among the most naturally friendly and hard working group that I have been around in all of my travels. The resort is not small but the dining staff remembered my name by second meal and still remebered it after my 10 days on the boat.
The diving was wonderful. I can’t say enough good about the dive guides. They found everything you can imagine that you wanted to see. I was actually getting tired of frogfish. They want to please but can be firm with divers who need admonishment about courtesy to other divers or treatment of coral and wildlife.
I would go again in a second to this resort and boat.
