Comments This resort is NOT the Ritz Cartlton, but has simple cabins, screen enclosed with 24 hour electricity and ceiling fans. It can get quite hot and humid. There are only 8 cabins so a max of 16 people. When we there, there were only a max of 7 people (and less as time went on). The island is situated about 25 minutes by boat from Kavieng and also most of the dive sites. There is a new dive boat with reasonable seating for maybe 6 to 8 divers, and a much older and less comfortable dive boat we used most of the dive days. But the diving is super. Albatross Passage rivals Palau's Blue Corner for sharks and schools of fish, Ral Island has a beautifully sandy area for finding small stuff combined with a super coral area right by the island itself, Peter's patch and the Matrix offer incredible variety and lots of small and big fish. I saw more critters (crabs and shrimps) than in many recent trips, and enjoyed the dock diving at the Bottle shop site (93 and 155 minute dives), discovering critters and beautiful coral on the piers. We had a great guide (Tommie) and I get the impression that there are others as well who do the same. If you can endure getting there and the rustic accommodations, reasonably good food (with daily choices or either chicken or local fish/seafood), no a/c, I'd recommend a trip there. Oh and one one ride out to a dive site ORCAS swam next to the boat!
