Comments Palau has great snorkeling and great kayaking in the Rock Islands and World War II tours of Peleliu, so much to do on days off diving. All dives are drift dives, whether from liveaboards or shore based. We prefer shore based to enjoy the good restaurants and visit with friends. The three years of closure for Covid seemed to allow the number of fish to double, maybe triple. Huge schools of many varieties of fish. Still not too many divers, unlike the busy times in 2015-2019. Often only one or two boats at a dive site. Wall diving was very different from more crowded days. Currently mostly experienced divers who were not blowing bubbles up the walls, so lots of little fish and critters enjoying the walls and caves. As usual, sharks and schools of barracudas and jacks at Blue Corner and great fish on the plateau when the current was slack. Nine turtles one day at Dexter's wall. Saw a 4' barracuda at Saies Corner who would not move for the guide and me. Looked at us with eyes that said "if you want to go to the plateau, go around me, as I am not moving." Saw five trumpetfish hunting at Ulong Sandbar, not bothered by me photographing them. Saw an octopus hunting on one of the WW II wrecks. Overall, a great trip.
