Comments Overall, a fantastic trip. Booked almost two years in advance. Flew from Newark to Tokyo, then Guam and finally Truk. My brother and I spent two nights in at the Blue Lagoon Resort (recommended) prior to boarding the Odyssey so that we could decompress from the long trip. Truk is very economically depressed and lacks first world infrastructure. The road to the resort from the airport is an something to see in and of itself- it appears as if it has suffered a barrage of bombs from the 1940's. The Blue Lagoon resort is very basic. Nothing luxurious, but the best the island has to offer from what I was told. There are no TV's in the rooms but the A/C worked great. Best to bring a few good books. While there we read a biography on Kimio Aisek, one of Truk's most experienced dive guides. It offered a nice historical account of the events in Truk circa 1940's, which served as the perfect segue to diving the wrecks. The grounds are clean, and the views are beautiful. It is also the only resort with a small beach. The on-site restaurant serves various cuisine's and is decent. The sashimi was excellent.

Once on board the Odyssey and for the entire next week, we were totally pampered. Captain Mike, Annette, and the entire crew were fantastic. Dive briefs were excellent, and were accompanied by a video produced by Captain Mike! 10 of the 14 of us were technical divers. Four were using rebreathers, six diving with doubles, and the rest using singles. The dives are mostly deep. Expect to do some deco dives. I was the only one diving side mount. The Odyssey group does a great job contacting you before the trip and asking what you will need and how you anticipate diving (technical vs recreational). One dive was to the outer reef for a shark feed. A nice break from the wrecks. Viz varied from 20 ft to 60 ft. Some dives had current. Amazing engine room penetrations for advanced/technical divers.
