Comments The trip over was grueling but it was worth it. This was some of the best diving I’ve experienced. If you’re into sharks and mantas, there are some guaranteed dives. We did Blue Corner twice and it was definitely inconsistent.Other highlights… Blue Holes, Chandelier Cave and German Channel for the mantas. We also managed to dive on two wrecks - the IRO and the TESHIO MARU. Both were outstanding. Definitely get the history on each before you go. It will mean so much more.

Sadly Jellyfish Lake has been affected by increased water temperatures and so they are now only in the 100s vs the millions. We didn’t realize this until we got there, so there was some disappointment to manage.

Fish n Fins was a generally terrific. Anja our DM took very good care of us. When I had gear issues, Uli (the owner’s son and resident tech-head) was very helpful. Definitely bring your own snacks and beverages if you want more than water on board. We were there during the start of their busy season and they had rented several boats to cope with the demand.

If you’re doing two or three tank dives, lunch is included and you’ll generally stop at some amazing beach/island. While I wouldn’t change anything here, this does extend the dive day so that after leaving at 8 or so in the morning, we wouldn’t return till 3:30pm/4pm. Not a complaint but we had far less “free time” than we thought we would in the afternoons.

Sea Passion hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the dive shop and is a fine and serviceable hotel. The staff is friendly and the breakfast menu clearly caters to regional (mostly Chinese) tourists. We found the "standard" room a bit tight for two and the lack of storage/shelves/drawers was notable. The suites definitely give you more room to breath and settle in for a week.

For topside excursions, definitely do the day trip to Peleliu. The beauty of the place and the brutality of war come together for a moving experience.

We were there with a larger group (24-26) of gay guys (gayscubaweek.com) and we did not experience any issues from anyone we encountered. Everyone was super friendly and the whole place felt safe.

Most restaurants & shops do NOT take AMEX, and some are cash only - esp for taxis to get around. I definitely made my way to an ATM at least once during the week. I also had a minor dental issue while there and the local public hospital was very easy to navigate and inexpensive to get my loose crown cemented.

Overall a great experience.
