Comments I've been visiting Valencia for ten years or so. The problem with shore diving along this stretch of coast is visibility. Silt is everywhere and it only needs the slightest of seas to stir it all up. English divers are probably used to this. Having said that, if you do have a few days of fine, windless weather the viz can improve dramatically. I use Aguasub in Vinaros because the owner, Frank de Groot, is such an obliging chap and goes far beyond the call of duty to help his customers who are mainly Spanish trainee divers. On a good day the diving can be excellent and this year has seen a glut of seahares and a small amount of fried egg jellyfish. All the normal med fish are present but not in huge numbers. There's a lot of spearfishing taking place with some quite big fish being captured but this does tend to make the population shy. If you want truly amazing diving in this area you have to visit the islands by boat. My favorite is the Columbretes which is now a marine park, which is heavily policed, and home to huge groupers and lobsters which have not been scared off by spearfishermen.
