Comments The travel to the Maldives is very long and taxing. If flights and schedule allow, arrive a day early. If finances allow fly business class. There is a hotel inside of Hamad International Airport in Doha if you have a long layover like we did. Everyone is issued a water bottle for the trip to help prevent the spread of COVID. Charging stations seemed safe and there always a crew memeber awake on watch. The boat is in good condition and the Captain (Mariano) an crew were outstanding! Bucketlist trip and extremely fortunate. Went during the rainy season but the weather was perfect. No rain at all and calm seas. My 5th liveaboard but first time hook diving in strong currents. Guide (Nurwat) was excellent in teaching how to hook in. Most dives were 80 to 100 feet with mild to strong currents. Maldives has a 100 maximum depth. Saw sharks on every dive including grey reef, black tip, white tip, nurse, spinner, guitar, 1 bull, 1 hammerhead and 2 whale sharks. We snorkeled with one whale shark and then were extremely fortunate enough to dive with another whale shark. Most fun I have ever had on a dive boat. They sometimes played up beat music as we donned our gear which just added to the excitement. After we spotted the whale sharks people we were singing and dancing on the dive deck. Had a night manta dive at the back of the boat. Large lights are turned on the back of the boat and lights are turned on at the 35' bottom to draw in the plankton for the mantas to feed on. Kneeled on the sandy bottom for an hour while 3 different mantas came within inches of you. After the dive you could snorkel with the mantas as long as you wanted. Also saw a couple of mantas on regular dives. Nice barbecue on a deserted island. Captain and crew always made the extra effort. Definitely a bucket list trip!

UW Photo Comments Sorry not a photographer but they tell everyone to bring a flash dive because there was a videographer on the trip who gave everyone copies. Our guide Nurwat also took some photos that he gave to us as did other guests.
