Comments On one dive I went on, it was me and a dive master diving. There was also two snorkelers with a guide and the boat driver. The divemaster and I did a 1-hour drive. As we were getting in I did hear one of the snorkelers say she did not want to snorkel there. Upon surfacing after our 60-minute dive, we did not see our boat. The water was the roughest I had seen it the whole week. It wasn't terrible but I do get seasick and was worried about it. The dive master cursed a bit and then waved his safety sausage around. Later he began blowing his whistle. I opened my safety sausage and waved it too. We were not extraordinarily far from shore or from other dive boats. I told him I was going to swim to shore or to another boat. The divemaster was not pleased with that and said no no he's coming He's coming. After about 20-30 minutes of bobbing around he said "there's the boat". It was on the horizon and with the waves I knew there was no way he could see us. But of course he knew kind of where we were and finally found us. It was an interesting experience and not that scary with my BCD inflated and knowing I could swim to safety if I had to. My concern is Borneo divers were doing a lot of open water certifications. Lots of newbies. And luckily there was no current. It appears the boat driver decided to take the snorkelers back to the dive shop while we were diving. Good thing we didn't have an emergency.
