Comments Getting there is slightly more restrictive due to covid but if one can show a vaccination card no covid test is required before departure. Otherwise a current covid test is required. Also a 'health' visa is required to be completed before departure. These matters were easily handled at the airport as long as one had the proper paperwork.
Honduras requires masks be worn indoors but none were required on the dive boats. My last visit was in 2019 & I was pleased to see most of the same employees throughout the resort & dive staff. The resort is all-inclusive & the dive operation is top notch w/ excellent rental gear. I was surprised to see so many lionfish & Subway now offers a lionfish hunter certification which teaches how to use a Hawaiian Sling & several divers on my boat got certified & went hunting which made for a couple of fun dives! The DM's collected the catch & the next day brought out a large platter of ceviche for all the divers to enjoy!
On an environmental note, Subway has a number of staghorn coral repatriation stations set up on the reefs & divers are urged to help relocate & position the coral to create new growth areas.
We didn't see many big fish because as the locals say "we had to eat when the tourists quit coming". But now the tourists are back big time & the big fish will be back. Just a great week to get back in the water.
