Comments I’ll give these guys credit: 4 buddies turned their on-demand dive guiding business into a full-fledged dive operation 3 months before Covid shutdowns, yet survived to keep going in 2024. They operate out of French Town on dive sites within sight of French Cay, but fortunately that includes some of the best sites on Roatan including Mary’s Place and 40-foot Point. They use co-owned pontoon boats also used by a snorkel outfit — long wooden bench on each side, canopy, no tank holders, tank and gear laid out on the wide floor between the benches — so it wouldn’t be practical to go much further except in the calmest of seas. Water available onboard, no frills. They have a pier they tie to (not all ops do) and will install your gear and swap to new tanks for you.

The dive operation people couldn’t be better. Airport pickup? No problem. (There is a fee.) Stow your baggage? No problem. Stop for a sandwich on the way? No problem. Add an extra afternoon dive? No problem.
Our DM guide, Preston, is an absolute encyclopedia about the reefs and sea life on the Southside. He took us through 2 great dive sites, pointing out plenty of creatures. Nothing big here, but lots of macro life, and many large schools of creole wrasse, jacks, yellowtail snappers, and more. Soft corals look very healthy, and hard corals are mostly doing well.
