Comments We are a group of mature diving buddies, all with 500+ dives, who have been diving together annually for years. We usually go somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, or Florida/East Coast. This is our second time to dive with Roatan Divers on the island’s West End.
The first trip was great (obviously, we returned again!) and the second time around was even better. This is one of the very best run dive operations we have ever seen, and we have been blessed to dive with some excellent operations. The owner, Saaya and Karl, focus on the details that make the difference between good and great, and they continue to improve. The staff is friendly, professional and hard working. The have their own compressor and mix EAN on site. The shop, dock and 3 boats are as spotless as a dive operation can be. They make 3 one- tank trips daily with the boats returning to the shop after each dive, most tips to the dive site are 10 minutes or less. Entry is back roll with a ladder on return. Most of our week was spent with Alex as our Dive-master and guide and Kevin driving the boat. Two great guys who took great care of us. The staff takes care of your gear at the end of each day (except wetsuits), stores it and sets it up the next morning. We all agree that Roatan Divers is a GREAT operation…and in fact we are going back again next year.
The diving in Roatan is easy with little or no current. The visibility is good to excellent with occasional exceptions. Coral structure is often spectacular and marine life is plentiful though wouldn’t we all like to see more. We saw some eagle rays, a few sharks and many turtles but for the most part big critters were not abundant. We did make a 2 tank trip to the Sea Mounts, about an hour+ boat ride each way. Sea Mount 1 was spectacular and marine live everywhere. Sea Mount 2 was less so but still worth the trip, despite some stiff currents. Overall the diving is as good you will find in the Caribbean.

It is important to note that while the owners of the Dive Shop will arrange your stay at the Anderson Sunset View Apartments, and accept the cash payment, they have no control over the quality of facility, maintenance or problems. The apartments are a 1 minute walk from the dive shop and less than 5 minute walk from numerous good restaurants. The apartments are very inexpensive and you get what you pay for. For our group the persistent lack of hot water, miscellaneous glitches and LOUD music at night from the club next door are not a problem, but cheap accommodations are part of our annual trip. Most folks would be less happy. There are 2 or 3 other hotels in the area within easy walking distance of the Roatan Divers, as well as several condos. Houses can be rented but probably would require a car or transport to the shop.

We love Roatan. We love Roatan Divers. We tolerate the Anderson Sunset View Apartments
