Comments Mayan Princess used to be a dive resort with a few beach goers. This trip, divers were far and few to be found, sometimes only two divers on the boat. The focus of Mayan Princess has shifted from diving to beach resort along with the loud music and large crowds. My wife doesn’t dive and enjoyed our first trip there several years ago, but was miserable this time.

Reef is dying, few fish and no big fish.

Mayan Divers was OK, always had 3000 psi fills. They set up your gear, cleaned and dried it. The winds shifted making diving on our side difficult and they switched to the other side where it was calmer but the dives still sucked.

My biggest issue was my Dive Master. He didn’t allow anyone to go below 60 feet and aggressively enforced that rule. I was scolded for going all the way down to 65 feet. Other groups went deeper and saw more.
