Comments As a follow-up to last year's report on Barefoot Cay we would like to inform the readers that the new dive operation is open and functioning well. What a difference a year makes. The little dive shack has been replaced by a large two-story building which houses several one and two bedroom condos on the second floor and the dive shop on the ground floor. Amenities for divers include 4 or 5 rinse tanks for gear and a separate rinse tank for cameras only, two bathrooms with toilet, sink and shower, and individual lockers for each diver. Air tanks are filled on site and soon a Nitrox system will be added. Rental gear is new and of a high quality. A retail store offers the usual dive gear, Also on the ground floor is a small gym with new exercise equipment and a massage room. The two new boats are comfortable and well equiped for no more than 8 divers each. There are plans for adding a third boat. Barefoot divers advertises "valet diving" on the website and they live up to the promise. Everything is done for you. At the end of each day all of your gear is rinsed and hung in your locker. Each morning your gear is set up on the boat. At the end of your trip your gear is given a thourough cleaning inside and out. Divers can request favorite dive sites and you can dive your own profile. Sites are a short 10-15 minute boat ride away and surface intervals are made back at the shop. We would often spend the intervals in our own bungalows. See last years' Chapbook for our impressions of Barefoot Cay's wonderful accomodations. Barefoot Cay was every bit as satisfying an experience as it was a year ago. The addition of a top-notch dive operation has elevated it's status to the top of our list of favorite vacation destinations in the Caribbean.
