Comments My wife and I have been diving with Severns Diving nearly every year since 1998. We have also gone out with several other operators in Maui and although they were also very good, none can compare with Severns. Pauline Fiene is the owner/operator of Severns Diving and it is Pauline that makes MSD so special. First, she is a Marine Biologist with over 9000 dives in and around the Hawaiian Islands. She has authored several books and is an acknowledged expert on nudibranchs and Hawaiian coral. In 2009, Pauline was inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame. When Pauline conducts a briefing, you feel her passion for her subject and as she talks her eyes light up with the pleasure of sharing her knowledge with her clients.
Andy Schwanke, Divemaster/Instructor and Boat Captain has been a member of Severns Diving for 20 years and is awesome. His passion for diving, Hawaii, and the Hawaiian environment and culture is evident in everything he does.
Warren Blum, Divemaster/Instructor is awesome as well and we have known him for most of his 17 years with MSD. On this trip he conducted the briefings as thoroughly and as entertaining a if Pauline was briefing us personally.
I can't say enough about the dive briefings given BY MSD, whether by Warren, Andy or Pauline. Each one is an education on the animals, the history and their cultural importance to ancient as well as modern Hawaii. On this trip we dove for 3 days X 2 dives. On each dive we learned something new even though we have dove each site multiple times over the years.
I will end now because I could go on and on about this incredible dive operation and its members. Every year we look forward to our Maui trip because of MSD. I recommend them highly whether you are newly certified or highly experienced.

UW Photo Comments Mike Severns Diving is a day boat and so don't expect too much in terms of camera tables, etc. Pauline, Andy and Warren are incredibly talented UWP's and will guide and assist but come prepared to be self sufficient with your gear.
